Dreamcatcher | Short Film Western - Horror
Dreamcatcher began as a challenge. For a 48 hour film festival in Seattle we had one weekend to write the script, gather a small team, film everything and finish the edit, with basically no budget and only the gear we already had.
The result is a dark western style ghost story about a father, a son and the weight of a loss they never really faced. A visit to a grave, a simple dreamcatcher taken from the tombstone and a night in the forest slowly blur the line between memory, nightmare and reality. The story follows Orion and his father Rooster as a quiet moment of remembrance spirals into visions of Izzy, the mother who died, and a final choice that cannot be taken back. Death Is a Bird Flying
In this short film you will see
• A minimalist western setting with open landscapes, horses and a forest campfire
• A grounded, character driven story built around grief, blame and superstition
• Ghostly encounters that leave you guessing what is real and what is in their heads
• How a 48 hour, zero budget production can still feel cinematic and complete
About this project
Dreamcatcher was written, shot and edited in just 48 hours as part of a Seattle film festival challenge. Every shot, performance and sound choice was created under intense time pressure, which became part of the energy of the film itself.
